3. Doosan VHP400WCU-T4F – Doosan Air Compressor HP 450

The Doosan VHP400WCU-T4F is another rugged compressor that has proven its reliability, performance, and serviceability.

Much like the XP375WCU, it has the Cummins engine that has been proven to provide these compressors with the power they need to help you perform your duties. Here are some other highlights:

Powerful Compact Engine

This compressor is powered by a Cummins QSB 4.5L Tier 4 Final compliant engine. It features DOC and SCR emissions technology in a smaller size than the others. It has a two to one diesel exhaust fluid vs diesel fuel fill ratio.

This ratio is important to companies that rent out these compressors because they are frequently used by customers who may not be used to filling them with two fluids in the newer engines.

As far as air delivery goes, this compressor puts out 12.7/11.3 CFM @ 450/400 PSI. This is more powerful than the other compressors we have seen thus far. Additionally, at full load, low-pressure operation time is 8.5 hours and high pressure is 8.3 hours.

New Technology

Along with a new motor comes new technology. One of the newly redesigned components of the compressor is its Miniport full gauge control panel. There is a handy tachometer display that lets you see the engine and its air end temperatures.

You can use the panel to set service intervals, set languages, and different display features. You can also change the pressure and flow setting while the compressor is running with the Mini Port.

4. Doosan P425

Last on our list is the Doosan Air Compressor P425. This is yet another powerful machine there for you when you need it. Powered by its rugged Cummins engine, it allows you to increase productivity and lowers the cost of owning the machine. Here are some of the more notable features of it:

Extremely Durable

The Doosan p425 has a sturdy design featuring a galvanneal steel enclosure that’s resistant to corrosion. It also has an A-frame drawbar and heavy-duty axles that help tote the compressor around.

When moving from job site to job site, it’s important that your machine can handle a ding here and there. Most importantly, the shell protects the inner mechanics of the compressor.

Quiet Operation

Industrial air compressors aren’t known for being overly quiet, but the p425 is different. It’s constructed with a thermostatic clutch-driven cooling fan that allows the compressor to run quietly and smoothly. Not only that, but it cuts down on fuel costs by roughly 10% in cold weather.

Power

Lastly, the Doosan p425 has a powerful Cummins QSB 4.5 L engine in it that puts out 12.0/10.6 CFM @ 425/375 PSI. Not quite as much as the VHP400WCU-T4F model, but it’s still great for power tool versatility.

It has a 60-gallon fuel tank capacity and can run for 10.9 hours at low pressure and 10.6 hours on high pressure.

The warranty includes replacement of the airend as long as it is returned unopened and assembled.

Typical Doosan Air Compressor Error Codes

With new technology comes error codes. We see them on everyday items such as video game consoles, cell phones, websites, and more. There are some common error codes that come with your Doosan air compressor which are the fault code 29 and the air compressor not starting. Let’s go over why this happens.

Doosan Air Compressor Fault Code 29

When the Doosan air compressor throws this code, it has now shut the engine down without any user input and there was no Engine Diagnostic Code detected. Why did this happen? This is a fault condition and it shuts down the compressor. Here’s how to fix it:

Step 1: Check The Fuel System for Restrictions

If there are dirty fuel filters that have yet to be changed since the last service, change them. If you used dirty fuel, add clean fuel, and replace the filters. If air is present in the fuel system, bleed it out. Lastly, if the fuel hoses are damaged, replace them.

Step 2: Check Battery Terminals, Starter, and Alternator

If there are loose connections on the harness or they are damaged, repair as needed.

Step 3: Turn Key switch to any ON Position to Energize the Compressors Electronic System & Use a Multimeter to Measure Key switch Signal Voltage at P1-2

The voltage meter should read 12 VDC at P1-2. If it doesn’t, check that all of the connections on the harness to the key switch signal circuit are intact.

Step 4: If Steps 1-4 Are OK, Refer to The Engine Manufacturer Service Dealer

Doosan Air Compressor Won’t Start

There are quite a few things that could make your Doosan portable air compressor not start. Here are some of the most common reasons:

Completely Dead: Check the battery. Check if the battery isolation switch is on. Make sure a safety switch hasn’t been tripped.

Doesn’t Crank: If the compressor doesn’t crank, ensure a safety switch has not been tripped. Check electrical connections and make sure the safety switch isn’t pressed.

Cranks But Won’t Start (Diesel): A diesel engine needs compression and fuel to start. Check the fuel system. If there is fuel in the tank, replace the filter.

Pump, prime, pump. Vent low-pressure and high-pressure fuel system to remove air, check out stop solenoid, and speed setting. Sometimes the stop solenoid can have a dirty valve or it breaks down. This cuts off the fuel and stops the engine from working.
